Great job on signing up and creating your Spot account! Now, it’s time to verify your details with FICA. We use GBG identity verification to scan your SA Green ID, SA Smart ID, SA driver’s license, passport, and face. These are digitally checked against the Department of Home Affairs to confirm that it's really you.
Here’s how to complete the quick verification process:
1. Open your Spot app and sign in.
2. Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner.
3. Select the **Get Verified** button.
4. Scan your SA Green ID, Smart ID, valid SA driver’s license, or passport, and complete the liveness check.
**Helpful tips:**
- Ensure the ID/Passport number you enter matches exactly what’s on your document and is registered with Home Affairs.
- For the clearest image, take your photos in natural light (avoid fluorescent lights).
- Turn off your mobile flash to prevent glare.
- Place your document flat on a surface.
- Align your document within the app’s borders, and the app will automatically capture the photo—no need to press anything.
- If the photo isn’t capturing, adjust your phone position, tap the screen to focus, and check for any blur or glare. Then try again.
- Avoid taking a photo of a photo.
Once your ID is scanned successfully, you’ll move on to a quick biometric liveness check to secure your account.
Step 1: Navigate to your profile page by clicking the top right-hand corner icon. Look for the "Get Verified" Button.
