What Verification Documents Does Spot Accept?

Thank you for choosing Spot. As part of the sign-up process, we require certain documents to verify your identity. Please provide one of the following original documents: South African green ID book, South African Smart ID, South African driver’s license, or passport. 

Kindly note that our system does not accept photocopies or temporary ID documents or birth certificates.

While proof of address is not required for initial verification, we may request it for further due diligence. Acceptable forms of proof of address include:

• Utility bills (e.g., water, electricity, or Telkom phone bill)
• Lease agreement
• Store account statement
• Bank document with a residential address
• DStv account statement
• Municipal letter

If you do not have proof of address in your name, you may submit a third-party declaration from your landlord or housemate confirming your residence at the provided address. This declaration must be accompanied by their ID and proof of residence.
