What verification documents does Spot accept?

When you sign up with Spot, we’ll ask you to provide us with a few docs just so that we can make sure you are who you say you are. 

We accept SA green IDs, SA Smart IDs, SA driver's license as well as passports.

Please note that you'll need to scan your original SA green IDs, SA Smart IDs, SA driver's license or passport when completing your verification. Our system does not accept photocopied or temporary ID documents. 

You don't need to provide us with proof of address when verifying. However we may request these documents for further due diligence and verification. 

Acceptable proof of address:

1. Utility bills, such as water, electricity, or a Telkom phone bill. 
2. Lease agreement. FYI, if you don’t have proof of res address in your name, you can provide us with a third-party declaration from your landlord or housemate confirming that you live at the address you’ve provided. Quick note, the third party declaration needs to be accompanied by their ID and proof of res. 
3. Store account statement.
4. Bank document with residential address.
5. DStv account statement.
6. Municipal letter.
